USA: Expro Wins TCP Contracts in Gulf of Mexico

Leading international oilfield services company Expro is celebrating two significant contract wins with Murphy Exploration and Production and BP Americas Inc in the US offshore region.

The Murphy award is for a three-year campaign offshore Gulf of Mexico, while the BP win will see Expro working on a significant campaign in the same region.

Expro will provide tubing conveyed perforating (TCP) services and its drill stem testing (DST) packages for both projects.

Expro is one of the largest global providers of perforating services, providing slickline, e-line and tubing conveyed explosives services. It employs an operational workforce of highly trained and qualified DST and TCP personnel across the global bases. Expro personnel is backed up by perforation experts onshore. DST offers the fastest and safest method of evaluating the potential of a newly-discovered hydrocarbon-bearing formation.

Expro has been offering both services globally for more than 25 years.

Deep Down Receives Umbilical Carousel Order (USA)

Deep Down, Inc., an oilfield services company specializing in complex deepwater and ultra-deepwater oil production distribution system support services has been successful in its proposal to a major international umbilical manufacturer for the manufacture, installation and commissioning of a portable umbilical carousel.

The project has an estimated value of $4 million in revenue to Deep Down and is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2013, with procurement of long lead items commencing this month.

Ron Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Deep Down, Inc. stated, “We are delighted with this opportunity. We currently have outstanding quotes in excess of $30 million for our carousel design and this project further recognizes that we are a leading provider of innovative umbilical solutions to the oil and gas industry.”

Perenco Extends Contract with Expro for Work in Cameroon

Leading international oilfield services company Expro has been awarded a significant contract extension with Perenco in Cameroon.

The award is an extension of services from a previous well campaign and will last for the duration of one year.

Expro will provide an extended well test, data acquisition services and its drill stem testing (DST) package including Expro’s CaTS™ wireless telemetry technology which will be utilized as a surface read-out system.

Work will take place across two exploration and appraisal (E&A) wells in the Lungahe and Elombo fields and two development wells in Dissoni.

Expro’s Southern & West Africa region director, Riccardo Muttoni, said: “Perenco is pressing ahead with major development plans in Cameroon and the neighboring areas. This award provides a platform for us to showcase our technologies and solution focused attitude.

“This is one of the jobs we have done in the region using our CaTS technology and the contract also provides potential for us to introduce our strengths in tubing conveyed perforating (TCP) and complete the full well flow management package.”

USA: Schlumberger, NOV Complete Wilson Transaction

Schlumberger Limited has completed the sale of its Wilson distribution business to National Oil well Varco, Inc.

Terms of the all-cash transaction, which remains subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approval, were not disclosed.

Founded in 1921, Wilson is a leading distributor of pipe, valves and fittings as well as mill, tool and safety products and services to the international energy business and to other industrial customers. The company manages a distribution business of approximately 200 sales and operations locations across the United States with a growing presence in other key international geographies. Wilson employs approximately 2,500 employees as a standalone Schlumberger business unit.

National Oilwell Varco is a worldwide leader in the design, manufacture and sale of equipment and components used in oil and gas drilling and production operations, the provision of oilfield services, and supply chain integration services to the upstream oil and gas industry.

Additionally, Schlumberger has committed to divest the remaining portion of its distribution business by agreeing to support NOV’s previously announced proposed acquisition of all outstanding shares of CE Franklin Ltd.  for CAD$12.75 in cash per share. Schlumberger owns 9,729,582 common shares of CE Franklin, or approximately 56% of CE Franklin’s outstanding common shares.

Successful final commissioning of Expro’s AX-S subsea well intervention innovation

Leading international oilfield services company Expro is celebrating the successful commissioning of its ground-breaking AX-S™ well intervention system.

The AX-S system, on board the Havila Phoenix vessel, completed its final commissioning successfully on a subsea well in a fjord (Onarheimsfjorden), in Norway, in April. Many major milestones were achieved and preparations are now under way for its first commercial well intervention job in the North Sea.

All operations during the commissioning were carried out safely without any incidents. All the subsea packages were fully deployed twice in a complete stack-up and 34 tools runs were performed on the well deploying a variety of down hole equipment including callipers, production logging, CCL, gamma ray, deep set plug, crown plugs and wireline tractor.

More than 40 potential customers attended the commissioning and witnessed the successful demonstrations.
