China: Fujian Southeast Shipyard Hands Over Subsea-Support Vessel VOS Shine to Vroon

On March 28th 2012, Vroon Offshore Services (VOS) took delivery of VOS Shine. The vessel was delivered from Fujian Southeast Shipyard in China and is the first of two subsea-support vessels (SSV) to be built at the Shipyard for VOS.

VOS Shine is a modern SSV with DP2-class notation and four-point mooring capabilities. The vessel has an extended moon pool, accommodation for 50, dual V-Sat dome with client and crew network, as well as satellite television. She is suitable for remotely-operated vehicle (ROV)/survey and construction diving jobs and will be commercially available in Europe from June.

The vessel will leave the Shipyard in the coming days and will be operated by Vroon Offshore Services B.V. in Den Helder.

Norway: STX OSV Brevik Shipyard Hands Over PSV Island Captain

On Thursday the 16th of February, Island Offshore (IO) took delivery of the MV Island Captain, the newest addition the growing IO fleet. The godmother for the vessel is Mrs. Tonje Tiley from ConocoPhillips.

The MV Island Captain’s sister vessel, the MV Island Centurion was delivered in October 2011. The two vessels are number 5 and 6 in the series of UT 776 CD design vessels built at STX OSV Brevik.

The two vessels will commence a 7 year firm contract plus options with Schlumberger as well stimulation vessels in 2013, and will undertake a major mobilization prior to this. Island Patriot and Island Commander are currently engaged as well stimulation vessels.

USA: Eastern Shipbuilding Hands Over OSV HARVEY SUPPORTER

Eastern Shipbuilding Group has delivered the HARVEY SUPPORTER, the first of three (3) 292 ft. Tiger Shark Class Offshore Support Vessels for Harvey Gulf International Marine, LLC.

The HARVEY SUPPORTER is an STX Marine design featuring a DP II SOLAS-classed AC diesel-electric, twin Z-drive Offshore Support Vessel measuring 292’ X 64’ X 24’-6”. Power and propulsion systems, controls, automation, etc. are provided by the system integrator, Converteam, Inc. This high-tech vessel features four Cummins QSK60-DM 16-cylinder turbo-charged Tier II diesel generator engines that are rated 1825 Kw at 1,800 rpm. Main propulsion is provided by two Schottel SRP 2020 FP Z-drives with nozzles rated at 2,500 Kw at 1,025 rpm each for a total of 6,704 hp. Schottel also provided two STT 4 fixed pitch tunnel thrusters rated at 1,180 Kw at 1,170 rpm each with direct coupled electric motors. The vessel is capable of top speeds in access of 12 knots.
